ALTAL Welding Workshop has an extensive capacity – using gas, metal arc, and programmable TIG welding equipment – for joining dissimilar metals, unusual configurations, or products unsuited for highly automated brazing applications due to size or complexity.


TIG Welding is a manual welding process that requires the welder to use two hands to weld. What separates TIG welding from most other welding processes is the way the arc is created and how the filler metal is added! When TIG Welding one hand is used for holding the TIG torch that produces the arc and the other hand is to add the filler metal to the weld joint.


MIG welding is the awesome process of using electricity to melt and join pieces of metal together. MIG welding is sometimes referred to as the “hot glue gun” of the welding world and is generally regarded as one of the easiest type of welding to learn.


Spot welding is typically used when welding particular types of sheet metal, welded wire mesh or wire mesh. Thicker stock is more difficult to spot weld because the heat flows into the surrounding metal more easily. Spot welding can be easily identified on many sheet metal goods, such as metal buckets.

Welding fabrications employ a variety of methods. Components can be fully welded using either MIG (metal inert gas), TIG (tungsten inert gas) or Spot welding processes depending on the finish required and materials being used. TIG welding is often used for thinner gauge materials and is a versatile method used for a variety of materials to achieve a fine and delicate welding finish when required; heat is created from an electric arc between a tungsten electrode and the component part. On the other hand, MIG welding, a process using a spool of welding wire, continuously sped, that melts as it burns, fusing the base and parent metals together, is an ideal method to weld aluminium, stainless and mild steel. MIG welding allows us to weld a wide range of materials of varying thickness from thin gauge sheet right through to heavy plate.
